An Unexpected Trip to Utah

With the freezing cold weather in Colorado a few weeks back, our transmission on our Volkswagen started acting up. Since Eric's Dad owns a transmission shop, we headed to Utah to get it fixed. I ended up staying the whole week, while Eric headed back to Denver to work. It just happened to be when Eric's family was doing gingerbread houses, so we got to be there for the yearly tradition!

Everyone working on their houses:

Our finished house:

We got some really cute photos of Logan with his cousin Kaleb in their Christmas PJ's. They loved playing together everyday!

I met up with one of my best friends(Amy) from high school one day. We ventured out to In & Out (they just opened 4 in Utah) with the kiddos and then just hung out back at her house. It was so much fun to catch up. We got some picture of Sophie and Logan:

I also got to meet up with friends from dental school: Megan, Mindi and Loni. It was so good to catch up with them, but it made me miss our times in San Francisco even more!

It was so good to catch up with so many people and visit so much family while I was in Utah!

Going to see Santa...

We took Logan to see Santa the other day. The mall had this cute Polar Express display. There was snow coming down in one room. Logan thought it was interesting at first...Then he decided he didn't like it so much...Logan was such a good boy when it came to sitting on Santa's lap. It was this cute old man, with a real white beard. I sat Logan on his lap, the old man started talking to Logan, and Logan just looked at him inquisitively. Then when it was time to take the picture, I got Logan's attention and he started smiling. It was perfect! I hope every year is this easy!

Christmas Card Pictures

I had a genius idea to take a picture of Rocco and Logan for our Christmas card. I found these reindeer ears in the $1 section at Target and Logan had Christmas PJ's (thanks Grammy) with English Bulldogs on them...adorable in theory, right??? Well, the picture session didn't go so well...it was sort of a repeat of their Halloween photos. Rocco had to be enticed with treats to sit next to Logan; All the while Logan was trying to grab the reindeer ears off of Rocco. Needless to say, I didn't get one cute photo of them looking at the camera - this is what I ended up with:And the winner was:

O Christmas Tree

Last week we ventured out in the FREEZING cold weather to get our Christmas tree. We basically picked the first one we saw, because it was so cold. When we got home, Logan was ready for a nap; So he missed out on decorating the tree - this was probably a good thing. As soon as he got up we showed him his first Christmas tree. Here is the finished product -

Sort of on a side note, here is the newest editions to our Christmas decor. The Willow Tree Nativity (I still need to get the creche)...And our new stockings, actually hanging from a fireplace (the first time since we have been married!)...

I love Christmastime and all the decorations - especially the smell of a fresh cut tree...yummy!!!

Eric and Rocco have been doing a lot of this lately. Eric has been sick and for some reason Rocco has been extra snuggly...maybe it is the cold weather!

IPHONE UPDATE

I am constantly giving Eric a hard time about his Iphone. He thinks it is the greatest thing; I think it is a bit overrated. But I have to say, due to the Iphone we have captured pictures and videos we otherwise would not have. An Iphone goes everywhere with you, but a camera isn't always available. I finally got around to downloading everything from his phone to our computer. Here are the pictures and videos from the past five months.

Evidence of the CRAZY weather here. When we first moved here and were staying in a hotel, we had a wild hail storm - it sounded like an earthquake. The aftermath -

Another crazy storm, but a much colder one. This was after the huge snow storm that came through Denver in October. They said it was the earliest/biggest storm Denver has seen in over a decade.

At the Denver Rockies baseball game -

Grandma Wood comes to visit -

Just random, cute photos of Logan -

Loving the Bumbo -

Logan loves paper cups with a lid/straw -

Logan driving(don't worry - we are just pretending) -

Logan and Berkeley both sleeping in the car -

Eric and Zach (while we were in Phoenix) -

Now for some of the videos. The first one is of all the times we have captured Logan laughing. The one where he is in his jumperoo he is laughing at Eric and Rocco playing.

The next one is of Logan jumping in his jumperoo -

Logan and his cousin, Berkeley playing together -

Logan eating some of his first "real" food -

And finally, Logan eating his Turkey dinner -

Thanksgiving in Utah

We traveled to Utah for Thanksgiving. We enjoyed a yummy Thanksgiving dinner...Logan enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner too - we let him have mashed potatoes, turkey and gravy. At first he didn't really know what to think about it, but he quickly caught on and went to town! The day after Thanksgiving we ventured out into the FREEZING cold to go see the lights at Temple Square. We met up with some of my friends from high school, Amy and Lindsey, and their families. Logan slept for most of the time, but finally woke up at the end to see some of the lights. One night we went out to eat with Eric's siblings...we went to my FAVORITE Italian restaurant, Michelangelo's. It was so YUMMY!While we were there, Logan got to play with his cousin Kaleb a lot. Kaleb is 4 months older than Logan; he is walking all around - Logan had a hard time keeping up with just his army crawl! We also got to meet the newest edition to Eric's family, Timmy. (he was born to Eric's cousin, Kim). He was so tiny and yummy! It almost made me want another one, then I quickly remembered everything I had to go through before and after Logan was born - I think I need a lot longer before I can forget all of that stuff. On our trip we also went to Cafe Rio several times, visited with friends from dental school (Mindi and Dave) and stayed up way too late talking (3 am), and got a new car (more info on a later post). Thanks to everyone for making our trip so much fun...until next time!
